At OIC meeting, Pakistan calls for resolution of Kashmir, Palestinian issues

1. Dar voices concern over reported Israeli threats to conduct further attacks against Iran
UNITED NATIONS: On Monday, Pakistan emphasized the necessity of resolving the Jammu & Kashmir and Palestine conflicts by granting their peoples the UN-promised right to self-determination.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammed Ishaq Dar, addressed a special meeting of OIC Ambassadors at the UN, stating, “The principles of self-determination and the prohibition of acquiring territory through force or the threat of force are fundamental to maintaining global order.”
He further explained that adherence to these principles is crucial to finding just solutions for both the Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir disputes. Senator Dar, who arrived Sunday to participate in the high-level UN Security Council meeting on global governance and multilateralism, emphasized that for both conflicts, the application of these principles is essential to ending foreign occupation and achieving freedom.
Senator Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to advancing the common goals of the OIC at the UN and reiterated unwavering support for the just cause of the Kashmiri people. He called on the international community to seek a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people.
Additionally, Senator Dar expressed concern over reports of Israeli threats to carry out further attacks on Iran, warning that such actions could pose a serious threat to regional and global peace and security.
“Despite the hostile rhetoric, we hope all nations will work towards reviving the JCPOA (Iran nuclear deal) on fair terms. This will play a significant role in achieving lasting peace and security in the Middle East,” he stated.
The DPM/FM also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the peaceful resolution of conflicts affecting Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia in line with the UN Charter.
He highlighted the urgent need to combat Islamophobia and called for the swift appointment of a UN Special Envoy to address this growing global issue, in alignment with OIC’s collective efforts. Senator Dar emphasized Pakistan’s strong dedication to collaborating closely with OIC member states during its term on the Security Council to address matters of mutual concern.
